Marianne Slaton's Obituary
Marianne Slaton (nee Walentik) – 69 years young of Parma, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2026.
Marianne was born to the late Ardelia and Walter Walentik on May 5, 1956. Marianne worked at Pleasantview Nursing Home while in high school. This is where she met her true love, David, at age 15. Life has a way of happening and Marianne went away to college. Love persevered. Marianne and David married on May 4, 1979 and had three beautiful children. Marianne was a devoted educator for 35 years at the South Amherst/Firelands school district. Her love for her students was beyond compare. Marianne enjoyed roller skating from a young age, but all would remember her skating to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. Marianne loved camping and could be found sitting round the campfire or riding on the golf cart. As her health declined, she could be found relaxing on her couch completing word searches, reading a book, spending time with her grandchildren, making lists or giving David chores to do – which he secretly loved.
Marianne is survived by her husband David; three children Stephanie (Garry), Carl (Sydney), and Joseph (Lizmari); grandchildren Timothy (partner Jana), Kameron, Alexandrea, Jackson, Dominic, Myles, and Giovanni. Marianne is also survived by her pugs and her therapy dog, Oliver. Marianne was deeply adored by her family including her in-laws Barbara (Billy), Vickie; her nieces Sara (Dan), Kristie (Rich); her nephew Sean, and multitude of friends she considered family.
Marianne is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann Marie and nephew, Adam.
A celebration of life will be planned for this spring.
