Marilyn Stern's Obituary
Marilyn Stern (nee Oakley), 83, of North Olmsted, Ohio passed away on June 12, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born June 21, 1938 to the late Charles and Marion Oakley (nee Lenihan). Marilyn will be truly missed by her children: Melissa (John) Dailey, Marcus Stern, Michael (Tammy) Stern, and Matthew Stern; loving grandmother of Everett, Taegan, Madeline, Jarrett, Addison, and Paxton; cherished sister of Noel Oakley. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stern, and her brother Col. Ronald Oakley.
Marilyn grew up in Oberlin, OH. She was a pediatric RN (for Dr. Wasserbauer and others) who was loved by her patients and relied on by her children for every ailment. She played tennis and golfed. Her interests then turned to caring for her lawn and flowers. Marilyn insisted on shoveling her driveway and cutting her lawn, which she did well into her 83rd year. She would treat herself to dark chocolate and red wine, always with ice, many nights. Although not always deserved, Marilyn bragged about her children and grandchildren at every opportunity. Her blue eyes still shone bright even after being told she had weeks to live. She kept her beauty and grace until the very end, never complaining, just happy that her loved ones were with her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 12-2 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Services, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Lustgarten Foundation in Marilyn’s honor.
