Marilyn J. Telenko's Obituary
Marilyn J. Telenko (nee Hothem), age 80 of North Ridgeville and longtime resident of Olmsted Falls, lost her strong fight against cancer on January 26, 2020. She was born November 1, 1939 to Harry and Florence (nee Hackenbracht) Hothem. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to Richard; the loving mother of Patrice Anne Vincent (James), Jennifer M. Telenko (Josh Haplea) and Elizabeth L. Stretavski (Michael); the cherished grandmother of Sam and Dominic; the dear sister of Carol Vaughn (the late Edward), the late John Hothem (Barbara), the late Gwendolyn and the late Sue Ellen; the cousin of Jeanie Pollock (Gene); the special aunt of Mark Vaughn and many nieces and nephews; dear friend of Mimi Bercan, Pat Stang, Leslie Crowe, Barb Draves, Esther Yoder, Barb Zorn, Jo Grimes, Beany Gutzman, and the late Judy Boslaugh; the lover of furry friends, Yogi, Osgrr and Oboe.
Marilyn was a Registered Nurse who graduated from Aultman School of Nursing/Malone College in 1960 and worked at the Cleveland Clinic, Berea Hospital and Southwest General Hospital in the Emergency Room and retired as the Employee Health Clinic Nurse. Richard and Marilyn married on January 25, 1964 at St. Benedict’s Church in Cleveland. Shortly after getting married, they moved to Olmsted Falls and became long time parishioners of St. Mary of the Falls Catholic Church.
She was an avid reader, gardener, lover of games and the ultimate fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was a member of Silver Sneakers, Small Christian Community Group, the Running Team at Southwest General Hospital and volunteered at St. Augustine Soup Kitchen.
Our compassionate “Ladybug” will always be remembered for special Christmases, personalized birthday meals, and random adventures with the girls, her husband and daughters.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Ames Family Hospice House and Dr. Zanotti and the nurses at Seidman Cancer Center for all their care.
VISITATION Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 4-8 PM in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Falls Catholic Church, 25615 Bagley Rd. Olmsted Falls. Please meet at the Sunset Chapel at 10 AM for prayers. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
