Martin J. Schmitzer's Obituary
Martin J. ‘Marty’ Schmitzer Sr., of Olmsted Twp., passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 18, 2021.He was born in Cleveland to the late Martin S. and Catherine (nee Zubak) Schmitzer on March 10, 1948. Besides his parents, Marty is preceded in death by his sister Sheila.
Marty is the beloved husband of 51 years to Sue Schmitzer; loving father to Martin J. (Paula) Schmitzer Jr., Mark (Jennifer) Schmitzer, and Christine (Joe) Huber; cherished grandfather to Martin Paul, Madeline Grace, Mason Robert, Morgan Ann, Nicholas Joseph, Emma Rose, and Nathan Thomas; brother to Donna (Ben), Daniel (Aundra), Sharon (Tom), and Kathy (Norm); as well as uncle and friend to many.
Marty served in the United States Air Force and achieved the official rank of Sergeant during his enlistment. Marty later went on to work for Horsburgh and Scott as a machinist for 40 years. Marty is a lifelong Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. He loved bowling, golf, and making sütni szalonna with his family. Marty lived his life to the fullest and approached each day with a smile. He felt that time with his family was always time well spent. The memories that were made will last a lifetime and he will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held at Sunset Chapel located at 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted 44070 on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 10am until 12 noon. The funeral service will begin promptly at 12 noon.
