Mary C. DelGreco Harmon's Obituary
Mary C. DelGreco Harmon, of Berea, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Renaissance Retirement Campus in Olmsted Falls, where she has lived for seven years. She was born November 3, 1927.
Devoted wife of 19 years to Thomas J. Harmon; cherished mother of Christine (Douglas) Campion; beloved grandmother of Elizabeth and Emily Campion; loving sister of Jennie (Carmen) Chriswell Piscitello, the late Manuel Ragozzino, the late Alex (Joan, surviving) Ragozzino, and the late Pat Ragozzino; treasured aunt and friend of many.
Her many friends and family delighted in her loving nature, charming personality, and creative flower arrangements. She was also well known for her spaghetti sauce and homemade bread. Mary volunteered at Cleveland public schools for many years. She tutored grade school children at both, Newton D. Baker School for the Arts, and Clara Westrop School.
A graduate of John Hay High School, Mary also studied at Cuyahoga Community College in preparation for two successful business careers. Starting as a part-time, seasonal worker, she worked her way up to fashion buyer in the regional offices of the FW Woolworth Company, then, the nation’s largest variety store chain.
When Woolworth moved their regional offices to New York City, she declined the offer to move with them, choosing to start her second career in the media buying offices of the Griswold Eshleman Company, Ohio’s largest business-to-business advertising agency. In 1992, she served as Cleveland Chapter President of Business and Professional Advertising Association. In the course of her advertising career, she founded the traffic department, became one of the few female Vice Presidents at Griswold Eshleman, and retired as Vice President, Administration from Brokaw Advertising at age 75.
Memorial visitation will take place on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070.
