Mary Ellen F. Barnes' Obituary
Mary Ellen F. Barnes, 82, of Olmsted Township, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024. She was born on March 11, 1942 to the late James Thomas and Martha Sandercock. She was the devoted wife of 62 years to the late Donald L. Barnes.
Loving mother to Donald (Charlene) Barnes Jr., Henry (Bernadette) Barnes, Charlene (Mike) Bias, Nelson (Lenna) Barnes, Alyce (Jerry) Scott, and Michelle (Tom) Stout; dear sister to Thomas Sandercock; cherished grandmother to 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and adored aunt to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings, James Sanders, Charles Sanders, Sylvia Thompson, Alyce Murad, Arline Duboy, and Chet Sands.
Mary Ellen Barnes had an incredible work ethic. She was a dedicated school bus driver for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, friends and her two beloved dogs, Khalua and Chase.
She loved camping, cooking, playing bingo, traveling, and watching cooking shows on television. She was the coordinator and mistress of ceremony at every family and holiday gathering. She had an incredible memory with a special attention to detail and loved sharing family stories and recipes.
Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, OH 44070. Mary Ellen’s funeral service will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
