Mary Harwood (Renftle) passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, with family at her side. She is survived by her children Brigitte (Stanley) Gabriel, Gretchen (Matt) McNally, Tara Harwood, and Michael Harwood, her two grandchild Read Obituary
The friendship she had with my wife, Cheryl and Mary had an awesome relationship. Which wasn't something that Cheryl came to easily. I thank her for the person she was and I'm sad I didn't try harder to keep in touch.
My prayers for God's comfort to Mary's family. I'm sure if God had a refrigerator, Mary's picture would be on it! She was a warm, fun and congenial friend and a patient, encouraging teacher who gave positive re-enforcement at every dance class. She not only displayed a hardy spirit to push through her difficult days but a compassionate spirit to reach out to help others with her charity drives. She loved her family and spoke of them often.What brought me a smile at this time is looking back at her e-mail sent 12/22/24 stating how "blessed" she felt to have all her family together for Christmas and she wished all of us to find some peace and joy in the day". I truly can say that Mary helped me find a reason to get off the couch and out of the house to enjoy her and her dance classes! A most quoted preacher said, "you haven't lost anything when you know where it is." Believe me, she is among angels, dancing in gold shoes! WELL DONE MARY!! Linda Barker
The woman who always had a smile on her face, I don’t even have the words to express my sorrow about the loss of Mary, this seems so unfair. Such a wonderful person she will be missed by many many many many people. My deepest condolences to the family.
To Mary's dear family, I hope you know how much she loved you. Nothing made her happier than to share stories about you. May her memory and the stories people share about her always be a blessing to you. As one of her Berea class regulars, I used to love to joke with Mary about having a dance recital so my husband would have to give me flowers. Our longtime class members joined in as we talked about what we would wear to the "recital." And if we learned a new song, we laughed and said that it should be added to the "recital." I loved being in Mary's presence so much and even enjoyed all the "earworms" she gave me by playing and teaching new upbeat songs to her classes. As I write this, I feel such a hole in my heart to know that she died. I think that hole can only be plugged by continuing to dance and carrying her memory forward. God bless you, and may you rest in peace, Mary.
