Mary Amelia Hibben's Obituary
Mary Amelia Hibben, age 89, a resident of Olmsted Falls, OH passed away on January 31, 2026. She was born December 25, 1936 in Duluth, MN to Joseph and Ruth Boris.
Mary grew up in Duluth and went on to pursue her love of art, studying for two years at the Minneapolis School of Art. She then interned at the Ray Vogue School of Design in Chicago, where she soon met and married Lawrence M. Hibben on June 14, 1958. Mary was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who treasured time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, traveling and many art related activities, especially designing and making flower cards for Hospice for many years.
She is survived by her brother, Cliff (Diane) Boris; her sister, Joyce (Clayton) Johnson; her four children—daughters Karen (Wayne) Stark, Sonia (Dan) Posthuma, Julie (Jim) Polaniec, and son John Hibben; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence M. Hibben.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Service, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted OH 44070. She will be laid to rest privately at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
