Mel McMurtrey, 64, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away on September 28, 2021. He was born on April 30, 1957 to the late Melvin William and Marjorie (nee Harper) McMurtrey. He will be missed by his sisters Marjorie (Larry) Kessler, Caro Read Obituary

Mel and his niece Natalie really hit it off. He was her only uncle on my side of the family and she treasured the times they spent together. Going to the rock n roll hall of fame and setting of smoke bombs that July 4th were wonderful memories for both of us.
When we were kids Mel and I would lay up in the attic and look out the windows and talk til late at night. I would watch him build his models and admire his patience. He even occasionally let me paint some of the pieces! He could take stuff apart and not break anything! He was a very kind and patient man.
As a single mom Mel would help me with things I could not fix around the house. He installed my microwave and a garage door opener. He painted a wall outside in 118 degree heat for me one year. Gee I wonder why he did not want to come back! I just thought we had more time. I will miss him so much.
