Michael John Matus Jr.'s Obituary
Michael John Matus Jr., 63, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on March 24, 2026, peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family. He entered this world on June 18, 1962, beginning a journey shaped by family, love, and the values he carried throughout his life.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Matus, whose passing in September 2025 left a deep void. Those who love them find peace in knowing they are reunited once more.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Erma and Michael Matus Sr., and his siblings. He carried the memories of each of them with him in throughout his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Julie Matus, Michael (Elsie) Matus, Nichole (Richard) White, David Schaefer, Douglas (Kelly) DiCaro, and Michael (Samantha) DiCaro. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Austin, MacKenzie, Michaela, Nate, Zuri, Riley, Ezekiel, Travis, Ryan, and Garrett, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Michael dedicated more than 40 years of his life as a master plumber, a trade he took great pride in. Through hard work and determination, he built and operated his own business, Matus Plumbing, earning the respect and trust of countless customers throughout the community.
Outside of work, Michael cherished life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, especially when accompanied by his grandchildren, and treasured the time spent creating memories with them. He enjoyed traveling to Key West - his home away from home. An animal lover through and through, Michael had a deep affection for his dogs, who were constant companions and a great source of comfort and happiness.
Known for his outgoing nature and kind heart, Michael had many friends and will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, and willingness to help others whenever he could. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for family, and unforgettable moments shared with those closest to him.
Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 10:00 p.m. with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Pinewood Garden Mausoleum.
