Nancy Giesser's Obituary
Nancy Giesser, age 83, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Westlake, Ohio.
Born on April 4, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, Nancy was truly one of a kind — an absolute legend. Vivacious, fun, bold, brilliant, and deeply loving, she filled every room she entered with laughter, wisdom, and an unmistakable presence. She was known for her sage advice, her signature whistling, her self-coined catch phrases, and for never being afraid to speak up.
Nancy devoted more than 40 years of her life to nursing and nursing education, leaving an indelible mark on the profession. She served on multiple nursing advisory boards, was Director of the Nursing Program at Central School of Practical Nursing and MetroHealth, chair of the Medical-Surgical Department at Fairview Hospital, helped create the curriculum for the Fairview School of Nursing, and served on the Board of Trustees at Central. She taught and mentored countless nursing students, proudly watching generations of nurses graduate and go on to serve others. It was nearly impossible for Nancy to go anywhere without running into someone she knew — often a former student with fond memories and gratitude for her guidance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Blanche Giesser; and her brothers, Bob and Bill (Rosemary).
Nancy is survived by her beloved nieces, Rosemary (Aaron) and Nancy (Jack), and her six cherished great-nieces and great-nephews: Jackson, Finn, Iris, Ellie, Hannah, and Addie.
Nancy’s presence on this earth will be felt forever, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, taught, and inspired.
She will be laid to rest privately at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio (Section 2D, Lot 308, Space 4).
“I am who I am today because I knew you.”
