Nicholas John Haschka's Obituary
Nicholas John Haschka, age 75, passed away on May 20, 2025, peacefully in his home. He was born December 1, 1949, to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Betty) Haschka.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Donna, and children, Tommy (Angela); Danny (Kristyn); Traci (Tim Smith); Terri (Kevin) Ebenger, and cherished grandchildren Mason (Baylee) Grow; Carter Grow; Colin Smith; Austin, Brenner, Tyler, Annabella, Dylan, and Max, and sibling, Cindy (late Doug) Rambert. He was an Uncle and dear friend to many.
Nick was a devoted Teamster of Local 407 Cleveland, Ohio and started his career with Associated Truck Lines in the 1970’s. He worked his way up to Vice President of the Teamster’s Local 407 where he spent many years fighting for the rights of the union members until he retired in 2014. He also spent much of his time as a Berea Councilman for 12 years and then eventually became a member of the Berea Planning Commission.
In his spare time, he loved helping where he could, including Coaching and Overseeing the Berea Youth Soccer Club, working security at the Cuyahoga Fairgrounds for 20 plus years, and being heavily involved in running the Coe Lake Car Show and the Father’s Day Car show in Berea as he was an avid car enthusiast. He also loved to show his 1972 Cutlass, and later his 2006 Mustang, off when he could, embracing opportunities to drive them in the Berea Parades.
When he wasn’t busy, he enjoyed sitting back and watching the Game Show Network, Cop shows, and executing crossword puzzles flawlessly.
Big Nick was a person that was larger than life and gave his absolute all for his family, friends, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
