Nicholas G. Zatezalo's Obituary
Nicholas G. Zatezalo, born August 7, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, peacefully passed away on January 19, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with illness. He was the beloved son of the late Loretta (née Jenks) and Nick Zatezalo.
Nicholas was a fighter in every sense of the word. Through life’s challenges and his lengthy illness, he showed quiet strength and resilience, never giving up. He found comfort in the simple joy, sharing and savoring good food, settling in to watch his favorite television shows, and being surrounded by the people who loved him. Those small moments meant everything to him and will always be remembered by his family.
He leaves behind his loving brother, Jeffrey Zatezalo, and his caring sister, Brenda (Charles) Church. Nicholas was a proud and devoted uncle to his nieces, Renee Zatezalo and Nicole (Nick) Brumbaugh, and his nephew, Nathan Zatezalo. He is also fondly remembered by his cousins, Jackie (Mark) Paul and Bobby (Denise) Zatezalo, and by his treasured great-nephews, Brady and Chase.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Loretta Zatezalo, and by his beloved brother, Michael Zatezalo, whom he held close in his heart.
Nicholas will be remembered for his perseverance, his love of life’s simple pleasures, and the deep bonds he shared with his family. His presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Chapel, located at 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM, also at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Burial will follow immediately after.
The family will also be hosting a Celebration of Life in Nicholas’s honor during the summertime. Additional details will be shared at a later date.
