Opal Mae Baughan's Obituary
Opal Mae Baughan, 82, of Parma Heights entered God’s Kingdom on Monday, May 4, 2026. Born in West Virginia to the late James and Maggie (nee Adkins) Burton on February 20, 1944.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Johnny Baughan, and her granddaughter, Rita.
Opal is survived by her children, Tonya Baughan and James “Tyke” Baughan; grandchildren, Bailey, Natalie, and Connor; siblings, Arthur Ray (Sue), Myrtle (Bennie), James “Junior” (Evelyn), and Evaline (Bo); nieces, nephews, and friends.
Opal was a woman of strong faith and humbly attended Followship Baptist Church. She was a very social, personable, and loving woman who never met a stranger. She loved her family deeply, and everyone who knew her loved her in return. Opal never judged a soul—she welcomed all with kindness, patience, and an open heart. She was a sweet spirit, gentle and genuine, and an all‑around good person whose goodness radiated effortlessly.
She and Johnny were strong leaders in their family and were often looked to for love, support, and guidance. The couple loved deeply and always offered help to those in need. Opal cherished being a grandmother and treated her grandchildren as if they were her own children. Our hearts will ache in her absence, and she will be dearly missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Southwest General Hospital, Riverview Pointe, and Middleburg Heights Assisted Living for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care they showed Opal.
A visitation will be held Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, located at 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A funeral service will take place Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the chapel and will conclude with a burial in Sunset Memorial Park.
