Patricia A. Elias' Obituary
Patricia A. Elias (Nee Sharkey), age 88, passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Pat, as she was known to her friends and family, was born on May 20, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio to Paul and Helen (Fedor) Sharkey. Her arrival to this earth was a surprise to her six siblings, after they arrived home from church to find their new baby sister.
Pat married the love of her life, Ed, in 1955 and raised their seven kids. She exemplified what it meant to be a mother and grandmother as her family became her vocation. Her love and support was endless. She never missed an opportunity to lend an ear, provide a hug, and become her family’s biggest cheerleader.
Pat and Ed loved traveling together. They took any chance they had to travel together to see loved ones, frequenting Florida and Hawaii. After Ed’s untimely passing in 2002, Pat continued to travel with her children and grandchildren. Many wonderful memories were made in Pawleys Island, South Carolina where she loved to walk the beach looking for treasures including shells and shark teeth.
Along with great admiration for her family, Pat loved to sew, collect cookbooks, and attend weekly mass at St. Peter’s. She openly embraced new technology and loved taking photos with her digital cameras, researching her ancestry, and searching the internet for new recipes to make for everyone.
Pat is preceded in death by both her parents; her siblings, Bill Sharkey, Bette Connor, Bud Sharkey, Ozzie Sharkey, Janet Allen, and Tom Sharkey; and her son-in-law Scott Kacirek.
Pat is survived by her seven children, Marsha Kacirek (Scott, deceased), Kimberly Paxton, Barbara Schork (Lenny), Edward R. Jr. (Renee), Robert (Barbara), John (Bridget), and Michele O’Dee (Bill Plushnik); her twelve grandchildren, Scott Kacirek Jr., Tara Hendricks (Matt, deceased), Stefanie Klee (Jeff), Brooke Dawson, Zachary Elias, Owen Elias, Jessica Elias, Nicholas Elias, Shane Elias, Ian Elias, Ryanne O’Dee, and Kelsey O’Dee (Evan Wagner); five great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Alexis, Caelum, Conor, and Lucas; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat always made time for everyone. Her door was always open, and her house was constantly full. Every visit with her ended with a container of her homemade cooking, and a warm heart. And now, just as Pat always stood on the porch waving goodbye until family and friends were out of sight, it is only fitting that we wave goodbye to her as she enters her heavenly home.
Visitation is Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 10 AM - 12 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where her funeral service will follow at 12 PM. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
