Paul Lee Kenney's Obituary
Paul Lee Kenney, age 81 of Fairview Park, OH, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024. Paul was born on June 12, 1942, in Valley Head, West Virginia, to Thurman John and Carrie Winifred Kenney. He was the sixth of eight children and grew up in the hills of the Appalachian Mountains.
After graduating from Tygart’s Valley High School in West Virginia, Paul moved to Cleveland at the age of 20 for work, and met the love of his life, Dorothy Louise (Sarr). The war in Vietnam got in the way of their love story for a brief time, as Paul was drafted in 1964 and eventually sent to Vietnam where he served until being discharged from the Army on February 18, 1967. Less than three weeks later, Paul and Dorothy were married at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cleveland.
Paul loved many things in life: His lord and savior Jesus Christ, breakfast (any time of the day), golfing, all Cleveland sports teams, gardening, and most of all spending every day as a faithful Husband, loving Father, and doting Grandfather.
Paul was predeceased by his father and mother, sisters Eula Hannah and Shirley Swecker, and brothers Thurman and Donald Kenney. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, sons Daniel (Linda) and Nathan (Jennifer), daughter Noreen Reed (Joe), sisters Faye (Barry) Iselin and Jean Hamrick, and brother Roy (Joyce) Kenney. Paul was loved and adored by his seven grandchildren – Lisa (Eric), Tyler, Jordan, Jared, Morgan, Jaidyn, and Amelia.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5-8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. His service will follow on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM at the chapel. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
Donations can be made in Paul’s honor to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4260 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland, Ohio 44135.
