Paul J. Yatsko's Obituary
Paul J. Yatsko, 86, passed away on April 19, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family. Paul was born on October 17, 1937 to the late Paul and Agnes Yatsko in Searights, PA, moving to Genoa, Ohio in 1941. Paul Graduated from Genoa High School in 1955 and joined the U.S. Air Force. He married Shirley Kuyoth on June 24, 1961 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Genoa, Ohio. Paul began his career with the C&O Railroad in Walbridge, Ohio.
In 1970, Paul moved his family to Newport News, VA where he would work on the CSX Railroad for eight years before returning to Ohio. He accepted a job with the LTV Railroads in Cleveland, Ohio where he would work until he retired in 1998 as Superintendent of Maintenance.
After returning to Ohio, there would be yearly trips to Nags Head, NC spending time with friends from Virginia and to go deep sea fishing out of Manteo, NC. He received several citations for the size of tuna he caught. Paul’s greatest pleasures were hunting, fishing, gardening, and going to Lifeworks Fitness Center a few times a week to visit with friends and to exercise. For years, after hunting season, he would plan and organize his wild game dinner, in which close to 200 people would attend.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; children, Diane Zaffino, Karen Morrow (Joe Leach), Kevin Yatsko, and Matt (Debbie) Yatsko; grandchildren, Anthony (Natalie) Mechling, Dennis Zaffino, Dave (Jenna) Zaffino, Elizabeth Zaffino, Matthew Yatsko, and Monte Morrow; and great-grandchildren, Owen Mechling, Connor Mechling, Trevor Zaffino, DJ Zaffino, and Rosie Zaffino.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his son in law, Dennis Zaffino; and siblings, Paulene Christy and Mary Elizabeth Dazley.
Paul’s visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
