Peter Iaffaldano's Obituary
PETER IAFFALDANO – Passed away peacefully July 30, 2023 in Westlake Ohio, just weeks before his 101st birthday. He was the beloved son of Italian immigrants Joseph and Anna (nee Amodio) Iaffaldano (both deceased). They emigrated from Ritugliano, and Mola di Bari,Puglia,Italy. He was preceded in death by two beloved wives Jeanne C. (nee Smith), and Ruth Marnalse, his dearest sister Carmella (John) Davey, and his beloved namesake son Peter C. Iaffaldano.
He leaves behind his five other loving children Jim (Carol) Iaffaldano, Ioannella Iaffaldano, Ella (Kirk) Koloini, John (Sherry) Iaffaldano, and Ann Iaffaldano, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was a cherished uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
He was born in Auburn, New York, but grew up in the small town of Mottville, New York and later Syracuse , New York. He graduated Salutatorian from Blodgett Vocational High School and went on to General Motors Institute (Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan on a work-study program. In 1944, he joined the Navy half way through college and served in the South Pacific on the ammunition ship USS Paricutin AE-18. He was an Electronic Technicians Mate Second Class and Radio Technician Second Class. After WWII ended, he went back and graduated from General Motors Institute with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked for General Motors in Elyria, Ohio and started a family, then worked for the Norton Company for many years until he retired. He was a resident of Rocky River, Ohio for 56 years, and then Bay Village, Ohio.
He loved his family, working on cars, hunting, and traveled the country with his wife Jeanne and family in their Airstream. He was an Amateur Ham Radio operator and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was loved dearly and will be missed by all.
Visitation Monday, August 7, 2023 from 3-7 pm at The Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd., N. Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
Mass of Christian burial Tuesday, August 8 at 11 am, St Christopher’s Catholic Church, 20141 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, OH 44116. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
