Philip Dennis Pier's Obituary
Philip Dennis Pier, Age 87 of North Olmsted, Ohio, went to Heaven on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. Philip was born on December 27, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1955 and went on to the University of Colorado, where he received his degree in Business Marketing. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Ohio National Guard and served six years. When he completed basic training, Phil returned to Cleveland to begin his 48-year career in the insurance industry, starting with the Hartford Insurance Group and concluding with Wells Fargo. During that period of time, he completed his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification. Phil spent 75 years playing golf and he loved to travel. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite and Lester Pier. He leaves behind his precious wife and companion, Alice (Schwind), his son, Jim, daughter, Shannon (Steve Pfeiffer) and grandchildren, Connor and Tyler. Phil was the beloved Stepfather to Charlene Campanella (Stephen), step Grandfather to 5 and step great Grandfather to 12, and brother to his sister, Judy Gallagher (Jim, deceased).
Visitation will be on Friday, May 2 from 4-8pm at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. The service will be at North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church, 5665 Great Northern Blvd, North Olmsted, Ohio, on Saturday, May 3 starting at 11am with a short visitation at 10 am for those who are not able to come on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Western Reserve.
