Phillip Hughart Sr's Obituary
Phillip Hughart, Sr., age 92, of Brook Park, Ohio, passed away on June 19, 2025. Born on January 22, 1933, in Marfrance, West Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Samuel and Ethel (née Quick) Hughart.
Phillip’s life was defined by strength, warmth, and a deep devotion to those he held dear. He was preceded in death by his wives, Joan (née Amey) Hughart and Nora Mae Blankenship; his son, Phillip Hughart II; great grandchildren Parker Grace and RJ; and siblings Bessie, Sylvia, Johnny, Mason, Jessie, Goldie, Susie, Dempsey, and Roger.
He is survived by his loving daughters Patricia J. (Greg) Mullins and Kathryn L. (Walter) Welcheck; grandchildren Phillip III, Robert, Jennifer, Nathan, Michael, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren Peyton, Gabriella, Tristan, Katie, Conner, Martin, Kody, Josh, Brysen, Viviany, Lilyana, Anderson, Christopher, Sean Jr., and Jaiden; his daughter-in-law Karen Hughart. Honorary daughters Diane and Debbie. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Francis, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Phillip was a man of many passions. He found joy in tending to his garden, spent countless hours at the bowling alley, and never passed up a good game of pinochle. An avid deer hunter, he took pride in preparing hearty meals for his family with the game he brought home. Above all, Phillip adored his dogs and found his greatest happiness in time spent with family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Phillip’s memory to the Thomas P. Perciak Family Hospice in Strongsville.
