Phyllis Jean Dittmer's Obituary
Phyllis Jean Dittmer, 89, of Amherst passed away on October 31, 2020. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Lila (nee Harris) Goltz on March 21, 1931. Besides her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her first husband Roger Kraus; siblings infant Donald, William Goltz Jr., Carol Hayduk; and daughter Patricia ‘Patty’ (Gary) Behrendt.
Phyllis is survived by her husband David "Dave" Dittmer of 22 years; children James and Steven Kraus; stepchildren Jeff (Gayle) Dittmer, Joy (Mark) Culig, and Dyana (Eric Votruba) Adkins; grandchildren Brian (Nora) Behrendt, Sarah (Mark) Fulkerson; great grandchildren Brett (Jaimie) Martyn, Bryana (Josh) Torres, Eric, Brandon, Maria; great grandchildren Mia, McKenna, Liliana, Colt, Remington, Ruger Lee and Knox who will be joining the family in December 2020; stepsister Jane Garrity; many nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends.
At the young age of 5, Phyllis discovered a joy and talent that lasted her lifetime: roller skating. Phyllis started to compete at the age of 12 and had a successful career doing so. Phyllis and her partner claimed 10th place in the National Dance Skating Competition. She was an expert seamstress making many outfits for fellow skaters over the years and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Phyllis loved animals, camping and traveling around the world with Dave, and spending time with her family. Phyllis practiced Christianity and would often reflect on the Bible and regularly attended First Lutheran Church for services. In the days to come, we will miss the sweet and elegant touch of Phyllis. She will be dearly missed in the days to come.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 10am until 12 noon at the Sunset Chapel located 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, 44070. Funeral services will begin promptly at 12 noon at the Sunset Chapel.
