Rasma left Latvia with her family in 1944 and eventually immigrated to the USA in 1949. Her family moved several times and eventually settled in Cleveland when Rasma was in high school. Rasma graduated from high school and joined the work force along with taking some classes. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister and friends. She met Gunars Klipsons, who took her on a first date to a Cleveland orchestra concert. They continued to date and eventually they married in July 1966. They had their son, John, several years later.
Rasma and Gunars enjoyed spending much time with close friends in the Latvian community. Additionally, she made sure to maintain ties with relatives back in Latvia. The Klipsons family traveled widely all over the USA and overseas, including several trips to Latvia.
Rasma showered her love on her family, relishing in family gatherings over holidays and throughout the year. She loved to make traditional Latvian foods for these gatherings and will always be remembered for her superior pīrāgi!
The things Rasma held dear were her faith in God, her love of family, and her generous heart. She gave of herself freely to those she loved. She was an attentive wife, a loving mother, a precious sister, a beloved aunt, and a dear friend. This is her legacy; she will be greatly missed.
A graveside ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 12 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070.
