Ray Skrdla's Obituary
Raymond “Ray” J. Skrdla, 80, of Medina passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in October 1939. Ray is survived by his best friend, life partner, and devoted wife of 47 years Cindy; loving daughters Tricia Skrdla and Jeannie (Matt) Nester; adoring grandchildren Justin, Nikki, Jess, and Kenzie; and dear great-grandson Raymond.
Ray had proudly served his country in the United States Airforce and had been employed by General Motors as a machine repairman for 32 years, retiring in September 1994. Ray was proud to say he had visited all 50 states and could not get enough travel time under his belt. Ray enjoyed playing bingo with Cindy, building model planes, model trains, and even rebuilt several classic cars in his time.
After retiring from General Motors, Ray took on a full-time position as a grandfather, Papa as the grandchildren call him, and loved every moment of it. Words could not describe how important Ray’s family was to him and he was such a strong and major figure in their lives whether it be at the games, at the racetrack, camping, or even just sharing those incredible moments together, he wouldn’t miss it for the world because his children and grandchildren were his world. There were countless hours of games, puzzles, long talks, life lessons, and most importantly love as each grandchild bonded with Nana and Papa. Ray lived his life as full as his heart could handle and he will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at the Sunset Chapel located 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted 44070 from 10AM until 12 Noon. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon in the same location. Burial will follow immediately after at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
