When it comes to celebrating Uncle Ray's life, many lovable good times come to mind when you start going down memory lane. Although, for me, there are five memories that stand out above the rest. 1) When I first moved away from home in September 1987, he made it a point to come and visit me in the small town of Winslow, IL, and even stayed the night in my small apartment. How cool was that! 2) He made me feel very special by taking me to Mayfair Mall in Milwaukee to see Gorman Thomas, Ben Oglivie, and Cecil Cooper of the Milwaukee Brewers. Afterward, he took me on a historical tour of his old stomping ground. 3) Jim and I were treated to a Brewers baseball game by Ray. We sat in the upper deck of County Stadium on the 3rd base side. While I went to the bathroom and to look for a souvenir, Jim got a foul ball. Not happy... LOL. 4) After going out for dinner to one of his favorite places, Red Lobster, we enjoyed one of his favorite musical artists back at the house. Shania Twain in Chicago. Our conversation throughout the concert ranged from her outfits to the songs we liked and everything in between. His musical appreciation was wide-ranging. And finally, 5) It was either 3rd or 4th grade. Uncle Ray provided me with NASA pictures and documents regarding the Solar system for school. While the memory here is a little vague, what I remember is that NASA was a big deal back in the '70s and my uncle worked for them, here's the proof, and now I'm cool too. He always let me know too that his welcome mat was out at his house. So anytime my travels during my career would take me through Cleveland, I typically would experience that comfy couch... LOL. From our simple dinners together to the competitive family reunion golf outings, he would not let the time go by without taking the time to ask how I was doing, what I was up to, sharing words of encouragement, or his candid feedback on a particular topic. Going to miss you, Uncle Ray! I love you, Kevin
