Richard Bell's Obituary
Richard Bell
August 19, 1943 – April 25, 2025
Richard Bell, 81, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 19, 1943, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, to the late Benjamin and Ann Bell, Rich lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Rich is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Beverly; his stepchildren, Scott and Shawn Hunka; his step-grandchild, Jacob; and his niece and nephews, Johnathan Bell, Lorne Bell, and Elaine Vanfossen; and sister, Elaine Bloom. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stewart Bell
A dedicated mechanical engineer, Rich spent many years working on large bearings in construction machines before his retirement. His passion for aviation earned him the nickname “Fly Guy” among friends. Known for his great sense of humor, Rich had a knack for making everyone smile with his jokes. He believed that “There is no such thing as a stranger, just a friend you haven't met yet,” and he lived this philosophy as an outgoing, lovable extrovert who gave the best hugs.
Rich was an avid collector of coins and precious metals and had a deep appreciation for cars, both working on them and admiring their beauty. Above all, he cherished his family and his faith.
Rich's warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held for Rich at 4:00PM on Saturday, May 24th,
at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 39099 Chestnut Ridge Road in Elyria, OH.
