Richard Hugh Fergason's Obituary
Richard Hugh Fergason, 79, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. Born on July 8, 1945, Richard was the beloved son of the late J.B. Fergason and Ella Irene Fergason.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Tera Fergason, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage since June 17, 1989. He was a loving father to his son, Nathaniel “Nat” (Jodie) Fergason, and a proud grandfather to Jacob Fergason and Kaci Fergason. Richard also leaves behind five nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Sonya Rose and Elaine Rigsby.
A Vietnam War veteran, Richard served honorably in the Navy and was discharged as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Business Marketing.
Richard was a man of many passions. He was an avid book reader, a skilled woodworker, and an intellectual who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was strong-willed and cherished family vacations at the beach, with Myrtle Beach holding a special place in his heart. Above all, Richard loved his family deeply and was a source of strength and inspiration to them.
Richard’s legacy of love, dedication, and resilience will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
Memorial service will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., with a committal service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
