Richard "Dick" File's Obituary
Richard D. File, 88, of North Ridgeville, passed away June 16, 2018.
He was born in Cleveland, the son of the late Benjamin and Gertrude (nee Schmidt) File. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Lois (nee Deas); loving father of Greg (Joyce), Rick (Denise) and Susan Benedict; cherished grandfather of Richard File, Christopher Benedict, Michael File, Andrew Benedict and Sara (Michael) Lewis. Richard was a 1948 graduate of West Tech High School. He entered the US Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged from the Reserves in 1959. He went into business for himself with File Painting and was later a property manager with Skyline Property Management. Following his retirement, he went to work for North Olmsted Nissan as a driver for dealer trades and parts delivery. Dick was a loving husband to his one true love, Lois, for over 64 years. He was a devoted father to his three children and took great care of his mother, Gertrude. Dick was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling with Lois in their Pace Arrow motor home. Dick was known as “Papa” to his five grandchildren and he taught them many valuable lessons.
Visitation Monday, June 18, 2018 from 5PM-8PM at the Sunset Chapel in Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10AM at St. Clarence Church, 30106 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
