Richard E. Texler's Obituary
Richard E. Texler, 82, was born on October 13, 1940, to the late Elmer and Amelia Texler.
Richard passed away on April 28, 2023. Beloved husband of Mary Ann Texler. Dear brother of the late Janet Svoboda and the late Elmer Texler.
Mr. Texler retired in 1994 as Chief of the Technical Information Services Division at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. His civil service career spanned 32 years.
A native of Cleveland, Texler attended Kent State University, where he majored in photo/journalism.
His responsibilities included management of the scientific and technical publication production, scientific & technical library, graphics, technical illustrations, statistical drafting, exhibits, still, motion picture and video production, scientific instrumentation imaging, and printing and duplicating services. He also functioned as the Lewis’ Printing Officer and was the senior interface with the U.S. Government Printing Office and Congressional Joint Committee on Printing. Mr. Texler served as the NASA technical consultant to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Aerospace Group for Advanced Research and Development (AGARD).
He has authored numerous NASA Technical papers on automated photographic and electronic systems and was awarded the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, NASA Special Achievement Award, NASA Cost Reduction Awards, and the NASA Incentive Awards.
He was the owner of Texler Electronics, a company specializing in high voltage power supplies and density measuring equipment.
Texler and his wife, Mary Ann, reside in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
Memorial Visitation is Monday, May 8, 2023, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where the memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM.
