Richard Lewis Werner Sr's Obituary
Richard (Rich) Lewis Werner, Sr., 80, of Westlake, Ohio, passed away on November 2, 2024. Born on February 25, 1944, to the late Harrison and Anne Marie Werner, Rich was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Rich’s life was a testament to humility and love for people. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Carol (nee Carney), and his children: Richard (Jacqueline) Werner Jr., William Werner, and Heather (Lance) Neiding. He was a proud grandfather to Harrison (Katelyn) Werner, Grace (Colin) Hannaford, Spencer (Zelli) Werner, and Cole Werner, and a cherished great-grandfather to McKinley and Aizlyn Werner. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Craig.
A pillar in his community and faith, Rich served as an elder in the Lakepark congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His hands helped build places of worship, and his heart reached out to families at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. As a student of the Bible, Rich developed a genuine love for people, which led to his sharing and teaching the Bible’s hope for the future with many. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Grandpa; to his great-grandchildren, G-Pa; and to the children he worked with, Papa Werner.
A memorial service will be held on December 7, 2024, at 3:00pm at 39099 Chestnut Ridge Rd Elyria, Oh 44035. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to donate.jw.org.
