Robert G. Carruth's Obituary
Robert G. Carruth (Bob), age 96, went to be with his Lord on June 20, 2020.
Bob married the love of his life, Fides Marie Peloso (Faye) and was married to her for 63 years before she passed away in 2014.
Bob was born in 1924 during the Great Depression in Cleveland, OH. He was raised by his maternal grandmother, Margaret O'Brien (deceased). Bob was an accomplished piano player. He fell in love with the piano at age 10 and his grandmother did the piano teacher's laundry to pay for him to have lessons. He joined the Musicians Union in Cleveland at the young age of 16. He was playing professionally until he was drafted into the Army at 18. Bob served 249 days in combat during World War II. Bob had many jobs after the service before retiring from Republic Steel. He was always an avid reader and could discuss any subject with people. He once picked up a book on gemstone faceting and became accomplished in the art of lapidary. He produced many beautiful pieces of jewelry, many of which his closest friends and family have until this day. He also began writing poetry in his later years and wrote hundreds of poems. Many people benefited from Bob's life as he was a multi gallon blood donor for the Red Cross. He did volunteer work with the VA Hospital in Brecksville and also spent time volunteering with Hospice.
Surviving are four children, Robert L. Carruth, Stephen A. (Ann) Carruth, Mary E. (Ric) Polocy and Frances M. (David) Cass. Twelve grandchildren also survive and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Patricia Phillips and sister-in-law, Neda Mareno.

After All
by Robert G. Carruth
A small piece
of the earth's
surface to call
your own but
not really your
own. A place to
come for rest.
A piece of sky
no one claims,
and the birds
no one owns.
It is enough
and eternity
is always
after all.
