Robert C. Castel's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Charles Castel, 87, of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021. He was born to the late Julius and Julia (nee Helsel) Castel in Portage, Pennsylvania. He proudly served in the US Air Force in Japan and in the United States as a radio operator on a C-119 aircraft. Bob retired as an air traffic controller from Cleveland ARTCC in Oberlin after 32 years of service. He continued to share his extensive knowledge of flight patterns by instructing future students of air traffic control for an additional 10 years. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Bonnie of 63 years; cherished father of Tammie Castel, Robert Jr. (Sandy) Castel, and Jeffrey (Laurie) Castel; treasured grandfather of Brandon (Roxanne) Castel, Justin (Alaina) Fodor, Kennan Castel-Fodor, Robert (Carey) Castel III, and Jordan, Daniel, Jaycie, and Ana Castel; dear great-grandfather of Grady, Jayden, Mila and Cora Castel, and Scarlett, Asher and Grayson Fodor. He is preceded in death by siblings Reba Wareham, Leona Castel, Mildred Dawson, Lillian Clark, Clarence Castel, and John Castel. Private services and burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted.
