Robert B. Cunningham III's Obituary
Robert B. Cunningham III, age 73, went to be with his Father on February 27, 2024, after valiantly fighting non-hodgkins lymphoma since 1998, treatment for squamous cell carcinoma in his facial area the past 2 years, and, finally, a serious lung infection/pneumonia the past few months leading to his death.
Born on June 25,1950, in Rochester, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Robert B. Cunningham Jr. and Gertrude Ella Cunningham (Anderson). Graduate of Monaca High School 1968, US Navy Veteran, and previous employee of St. Joe Zinc. He moved to Cleveland, Ohio when becoming employed by the Alliance of Transylvania Saxons in December 1983 until his retirement on May 15, 2023. Over those years, he was elected to ATS Board of Directors in May 1985 as an ATS Trustee. He was then elected 3rd Vice President in May 1997, elected as 1st Vice President in May 2002 until present. He has served on and/or chaired almost all of the ATS Committees over the years. He has also been an active member and officer of the local branches as well as pride in his Saxon heritage enjoying travel to Transylvania a few times and spent his free time doing genealogy work of our families. Member of Community of Hope Lutheran Church, Broadview Heights.
Survived by his wife, Patty Cunningham and son, Scott Thomas Cunningham (Adriana Juarez Cunningham), granddaughter, Gabriella Cunningham, sister, Terri Lynn Munroe (PJ Fossett), sister, Carol Ann Maples (Douglas), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A memorial service will be held March 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Sunset Chapel.
