Robert J. Francis' Obituary
Robert John Francis, 92, died peacefully, 12-13-17, at The Renaissance, in Olmsted Twp., OH, where he was known and loved for his silly hats and costumes. “Bob” was born in Newark, NJ to Theodore and Ruth (Schetelich). He was a graduate of East Orange HS and Rutgers University. He served in the US Navy during World War II and, at age 88, proudly placed a wreath at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as an Honor Flight participant. He married Lois Kubler in 1951. They raised 3 daughters in Cliffwood Beach, NJ. He was employed in accounting by Nopco Chemical and Diamond Shamrock and was transferred to Cleveland in 1976. He and his family resided in Lakewood, OH. He and Lois were snowbirds in retirement and eventually purchased a home in Largo, FL. They returned to live with family in OH in 2011. Bob was a Jersey Boy at heart and loved spending time at the Jersey shore. He was an opera buff but appreciated all music and loved to sing. He was a Boy Scout who grew up loving to fish, camp and travel. He was also an amateur boat builder. He was witty and loved writing poems and limericks. He was predeceased by Lois, his loving wife of 64 years, in 2015. He is survived by his adoring daughters, Kathleen (Don Resciniti) of Old Bridge, NJ, Janice (Peter) Miller of Brunswick, OH, and Gail (Terry Langdon) of Olmsted Twp., OH; his grandson, Kyle Francis (Agnieszka) Miller; his newest pride and joy, great grandson, Jackson Miller; his brothers, Jack and Jim Francis; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Jo Anne Cox. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. His daughters will miss the countless hours of love, joy and entertainment he provided during visits throughout his stay at The Renaissance. Hasta La Vista! We’ll miss and love you always, Daddy. A graveside service at Sunset Memorial will be announced at a later date. In Bob’s memory, be kind, be gentle, be witty and wear a silly hat!
