Robert E. Lee's Obituary
Robert E. Lee entered heaven on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the age of 94 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his former wife Helen Lee, daughter Ruth Lee, his parents Vincent James and Evelyn Lee, and siblings, James Lee, Charlotte Jones, and Sharon Purcell. He is survived by his daughters Rebecca Elle of Tremont, Ohio, Laurinda Curti of Colorado Springs, CO, Roberta Hudy Valentine (Ryan) of Westlake, Ohio, and his sister Sandra Jones of Houston, Texas. He has seven grandchildren, Andrea Jarosz (Sean), Diana Curti-Maffei (Bobby), Alexis Dill (Bradford), Matthew Curti (Kaetana), Madison Hudy, Jonathan Curti, Sophia Hudy and one great-grandson, Cade Cabble.
Bob was born January 7, 1929, and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area until attending college at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri where he graduated. After moving back to Cleveland, he began his lifelong career in business ownership first in the furniture business, then to vacuum cleaner parts and supplies, and finally in the self-service carwash industry including construction, parts, supplies, service, and lighting on a national level. After retirement Bob moved to Colorado Springs where he lived for nearly 20 years participating in the lives of the Curti grandchildren. Bob has lived with his daughter Laurinda for the past six years where he passed peacefully.
Bob loved the Lord and was eager to share the Gospel with many friends, business associates, and family members. He attended various churches and served as a Sunday School teacher, board member, and congregant almost all his life. Bob loved poetry and authored an estimated 300 poems during his life. He also was great at drawing which came in handy while playing Pictionary with the family. He enjoyed telling jokes, communicating with humor, and sharing his love for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang. He loved to play golf in his earlier years and was happy to see his grandsons pick up the sport too.
Although Bob said he loved dogs, his real affection was for cats. He adopted two stray cats, Tiger and Nosey, while he lived in his apartment who became his companions. Because of this, the family would like donations sent to The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region at 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905 in lieu of flowers.
A Reflection of Life service and burial will be held at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:00am followed by lunch at The Assembly Church at 3874 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Family and friends are invited for both events.
