Robert L. Vickerts' Obituary
Robert (Bob) L. Vickerts, 75, of North Olmsted, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 28, 1947 to the late Albert and June Vickerts (nee Rothenberger). In his young adulthood, Bob served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. Bob chose to continue to serve the public and was a firefighter for the city of Lakewood for many years until he retired.
In his leisure time Bob enjoyed trivia, history, and sports. He especially loved watching his grandchildren compete in cross country, soccer, and track and they cherished his involvement and enthusiasm.
Bob's greatest joy was his family. His infectious personality and the way he commanded a room will be greatly missed. Beloved husband of 53 years of Janice Vickerts (nee Walker); loving father of Stephanie (Jason) Place and Todd (Jill) Vickerts; cherished Papa of Brady Vickerts, Riley Vickerts, Karleigh Place, and Nolan Place; dear brother of Carol Thomas ( Joseph/deceased); dear brother-in-law of Gary Walker; loving uncle of Scott Thomas, David (Nikki) Thomas, Jason Thomas, Melanie (Vince) Thompson, and Jessica (Patrick) Westropp; great uncle of Lily Thomas, Bea Thomas, and Emma Thompson; godfather of Anthony Heffner; and host of extended family and dear friends.
