Roger Young's Obituary
Roger Young, 74, of Parma, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023. He was a loving father, husband, and friend to many.
Roger was born on July 22, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Harold Lee and Joan (nee Jevins) Young. He grew up in a small family with a brother and sister, who he remained close to throughout his life. Roger had a passion for driving and spent most of his career as a truck driver, hauling freight. He loved his job and the freedom it gave him to explore new places and meet new people. He thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the 407 Teamsters Union.
He was always ready to share a story or a joke with anyone he met on the road. Roger was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer in the fall, fishing in the summer, and golfing whenever he could. He had a great sense of adventure and never turned down an opportunity to try something new. He also loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, who he adored.
Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Young, who he married in 1966 and who passed away in 2005. He is survived by his second wife, Yanbin Young, who he married in 2008. He is also survived by his four children, Robin Young, Roger “Anthony” (Pamela) Young, Christine (Ben) Discenza, and Michael Young; stepson, Tian Xiang Jiang; his six grandchildren, Jennifer, Nathan, Shannon, Taylor, Gabriel, and Bridgette; his siblings who preceded him in death, Alan Young, Betty Young, and best friend, Charlie Dobeck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
