John Pabin
Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Ron Beatty. I first met Mr. Ron Beatty back when my daughter Beth was dating his grandson, Dave Beatty. With Dave and Beth, we met Mr. Beatty and his late wife, Ruth, at the Red Lobster restaurant at Parmatown. Mr. Beatty and I hit it off when we both discovered that we served in Army at Fort Eustis, Va. he about 20 years before me. We both compared notes and related stories about our experience there. I told him that we used to refer to it as Fort Useless and he said they did too in the 1950's. At Dave and Beth's wedding celebration they had the couples dance to see who was married the longest. A sure win for Mr. Beatty and Ruth. At the time the dance started Ruth decided to go to the lady's room and Mr. Beatty was anxiously and nervously waiting for her return saying, "she had to pick now to go to the bathroom." You had to be there to appreciate the story. We have met him at our house, his house and at Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. awaiting the arrival of Henry Beatty. He showed me, with a lot of pride, his shop where he made the model ships in the bottle, and I showed him the "20 Mule Team Borax model train" that I had made because he made one several years earlier. I am sure his was a lot nicer than mine. A true gentleman and nice guy. He will be missed and may his Soul Rest in Peace!
