Ronald Edward Hummel, a longtime resident of North Olmsted, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Rae-Ann Suburban in Westlake.
Born in Cleveland, OH in 1932 to the late Cecelia and Edward Hummel, he was the youngest of 4 brothers and a fraternal twin. They lived on a farm on Hummel Road where his family fostered many children.
He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Hummel for 67 years; cherished father of the late David (Susan) Hummel, Jeff (Kathy) Hummel, John (Ellen) Hummel, and Kris Hummel. Loving grandfather of Nicole (Brandon) Manley, Sarah Hummel, Kaylea (Bryan) Miller, Steven (Nicole) Hummel, Lisa (Rosario) Calabria, Emily and Allyson (Pat) Hummel; and great-grandfather of Tyler, Taylor, Faith, Brooklynn and Alexis Miller and Ava Hummel. Dear brother of Raymond Hummel. Special uncle to three nieces and wonderful friend to many.
Ron was an active member of St. Brendan’s Church and enjoyed fishing with his sons, going to lunch with his brother, playing his harmonica, cooking, reading the comics, and spending time with his family. He could fix just about anything, and was often referred to as “Mr. Wizard”. Ron will be remembered for being a prankster and his ability of making people laugh.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Services in North Olmsted. A private mass will be held for family only at St. Brendan’s Church due to Covid with details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Brendan's Church, 4242 Brendan Ln. North Olmsted, OH 44070.
