Ruth Arlene Minnich's Obituary
Ruth Minnich Obituary Ruth Arlene Minnich, nee Barclay, a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 4, 2025 at the age of 94.
Born on February 4th, 1931, and raised in Duncan Falls, Ohio, Ruth's passion for education and music paved the way for her life's journey. She earned her degree in early childhood education with a focus on music from, then, Muskingum College and spent nearly a decade inspiring young minds as a fourth-grade teacher in the Cleveland area. Beyond the classroom, Ruth’s greatest joy was her family. She shared sixty-one beautiful years of marriage with her beloved late husband, Richard J. Minnich, building a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. She is survived by her younger sister Donna Ray, nee Barclay, two children, Karen Bolyard , nee Minnich, (Alan Bolyard) and Kevin Minnich, as well as her five grandchildren, two grandson-in-laws, and a great-granddaughter, all of whom she adored.
Ruth had a gift for creating warmth—both in spirit and in craftsmanship. She lovingly made afghans for those who requested one, ensuring that each stitch carried a touch of her kindness and care. Her handmade treasures became symbols of her devotion to family and friends, bringing them comfort for years to come. She often found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—spending time at the lake in Vermilion with her husband, working on puzzles, playing the piano, listening to Frank Sinatra and big band music on the radio, bird watching for her favorite cardinals outside of her porch, gathering with loved ones, cheering for Ohio sports teams, and passionately supporting her Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Guardians. Her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio (Section 34, Lot 49, Space 1).
