Ruthann Janosek's Obituary
Ruthann Janosek (nee O’Day), age 92 of Avon Lake, passed away peacefully in her own home Sunday, May 23, 2021 with family by her side. Ruthann was born in Cleveland on February 6, 1929 to the late Edward and Ruth (nee Otto) O’Day. Ruthann is preceded in death by her loving husband James W. Janosek.
Dear Mother to Linda Janosek, Loving Nana to Jennifer Tysl (Edward), Hallie Kinzel (Ken), and Megan Johnson (Matt); Loving Great-Nana to Chloe, Clayton, Carlie, Lesley, Caroline, Molly, Claire, Marlee and Stella; Dear Mother to James C. (Kristi) Janosek, Loving Nana to Melissa Janosek, Bryan Janosek (Molly), Jay Janosek, and Jeff (Lindsey) Janosek; Loving Great-Nana to Jackson, Ryland, Lily, and Murphy. Dear sister to Sue Joens (nee O’day)(Col. Ray Joens deceased), Edward O’Day (deceased) and a dear Aunt and Friend to many.
Ruthann worked for Fremont and Westlake school systems and served the City of Westlake as an administrative assistant to the mayor. She devoted her free time to volunteering at Fairview Hospital where she enjoyed arranging flowers and was President of the Spring Valley Country Club Woman’s Golf Association where she was an avid golfer.
Ruthann enjoyed spending time at her Florida home with her family. In her spare time, she loved to bake, knit, bowl, “look” at her Facebook, and spend precious time with her grand-children and great grand-children. She was very passionate about her Cleveland sports teams, particularly the Cleveland Browns.
Ruthann’s secret to life and living until 92 years young was Malley’s Chocolate and Diet Coke. She was one of a kind and will be missed by many. A private memorial service will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to Hospice of Western Reserve or the COPD Foundation.
