Scott Edward Carter's Obituary
Scott Edward Carter, 65, of Olmsted Township, Ohio, was called home on March 27, 2026, to be with his Lord and Savior.
Scott, son of the late Rev. C. Edward Carter and Carol Carter, was born in Anniston, Alabama, at Fort McClellan, where his father was stationed. He lived in New York and Illinois during his father’s career with Goodyear before the family eventually settled in Tallmadge, Ohio.
He graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1979, where he loved playing football and served as a left-end guard for the Blue Devils. While attending college, Scott volunteered with the Tallmadge Fire Department and later joined as a firefighter, furthering his education to become an EMT. He went on to graduate from The University of Akron in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Rhetoric.
A man of boundless energy and intelligence, Scott owned and operated his own oxygen and respiratory company for 20 years before pursuing additional career opportunities with Neofill, in finance and accounting, and later with J.W. Didado as Manager of Special Projects and IT Solutions. In recent years, Scott obtained his real estate license and worked alongside his wife, Connie at Howard Hanna. Scott was also exceptionally talented in repairing and rebuilding cars, as well as remodeling homes, often using his own creative vision as the blueprint.
Throughout his life, Scott faced challenges with strength and determination. He touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance.
Scott’s legacy will be carried forward by all who knew and loved him. His life will forever be an inspiration — a testament to curiosity, resilience, and strength of spirit.
Though Scott is no longer with us physically, he will live on in our hearts and in the memories we cherish. He is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Connie; his twin sons, Joshua (Jessica) and Zachary; and his granddaughter, Romy. He is also survived by his sisters, Julie and Michele (Jim) Varga; nieces Samantha, Sydney, and Andee; and nephew Derek Varga. Scott also leaves behind lifelong friends Gary Didato, Dave Booth, and Pat Gaffney, and Debbie McCain, the mother of his children. Scott leaves his adored dogs, Bella and Takao. He will be deeply missed by many extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held on April 11, 2026 at North Olmsted Friends Evangelical Church, 5665 Great Northern Blvd, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Family and friends are invited to gather at 11:30 a.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon at the church.
