Shawn Thomas Hurst's Obituary
Shawn Thomas Hurst, 36, of Oil City, Pennsylvania, became one with the force Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born in Oil City to his parents, Jim Hurst and Jane Donahue Hurst.
He will be remembered for his kind, gentle soul, and the purest heart. He fought hard with his illnesses and never gave up with his loving mother and best friend by his side. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend, and we take comfort in the fact he is finally at peace. We will never forget fond memories like playing PlayStation with his nephew Tristen, his huge collection of Sci-Fi and Horror movies, and him jamming out to 90's rock bands.
His confidant and sister Missy, who was his person to go to for all things. His older brother Ryan, who has cherished memories of staying up late to watch television, introducing him to new music, and playing games online. Shawn never lost that child-like spirit which made him unique and treasured. He always enjoyed the little things in life, concentrated on staying positive, and looking at the glass as half full rather than half empty.
Shawn will forever be in the hearts of all who loved him. He desired that we not mourn, rather stay positive and truly cherish one another.
He is reunited with his grandfather, whom he called Pop Pop, Eugene Donahue. Their bond was so special, and they are now together again. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Donahue.
He leaves behind a loving family to honor his memory, including his parents, Jim Hurst and Jane Donahue Hurst; his siblings, Ryan (Margaret) Hurst and Missy Hurst; his nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart, Jude Donahue, JayLynn Brady, Tristen Hurst, Cody Yee, Riker Thomas Hurst, and Annabelle Elizabeth Hurst. He also leaves his beloved kitties, Rosie and Dean.
Per his request, there will be no formal services.
