Stephanie Susanne Bordy's Obituary
Stephanie Susanne Bordy, age 50, of Cleveland, Ohio
Stephanie Susanne Bordy was born on October 8, 1974, to the late Susan Balcar Bordy (Bye) and the late Alex Bordy. She spent her younger years in Bay Village, Ohio, and later moved to Lakewood, Ohio, where she lived with her stepfather, the late Ronald Bye, and his family after her mother’s passing. After high school, she moved to New Orleans and graduated cum laude with honors in Anthropology from Tulane University. While there, she worked as a project archivist intern with the Newcomb Archives at the Newcomb College Institute. She later earned her master’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin, where she served as an intern in Public Services at the Harry Ransom Center.
Her career then took her to Alabama, where she joined the Department of Archives & Manuscripts at the Birmingham Public Library, before eventually returning home to Cleveland.
Stephanie had a deep love for Cleveland sports, especially the Browns and Cavaliers. Music was another passion, and her wide-ranging taste always circled back to her favorite, Otis Redding. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her intelligence, her humor, and the warmth she shared with those fortunate enough to know her.
She leaves behind her beloved dog, Chopper, who was her constant companion. She is survived by her sister, Laura (David) Mamer, nieces Madalyn Mamer and Olivia (Michael) Novick, and nephew Samuel Mamer. She shared a special bond with her aunt Nancy (Jim) Scharfeld and was a cherished niece to Maryann (Lance) Hastings, Phyllis (Jim) Wilcox, Linda Shippy, Walter (Debra) Balcar, and the late Diane (Robert) Getz. She was also a cousin and friend to many.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 25th at Community of Faith, 9715 E River Rd, Elyria, Ohio 44035. Gathering will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service.
