Steve Beckner's Obituary
Stephen Beckner Jr., 76, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
He was born October 5, 1947, in Cleveland, to the late Stephen and Betty (nee Duns) Beckner Sr.
Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam, where he was in the 240th AHC, also known as the Greyhounds. He then joined the Cleveland Police Department in 1970, where he worked for 30 years, retiring as a sergeant in 2000. He was a respected and courageous officer who received several commendations for his service.
Steve married his wife, Jean Elchlinger Beckner in 1977, and they had four sons, Stephen, Daniel, Timothy, and Thomas. He was a loving and supportive father who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Ostrander.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his wife, Jean Beckner; sons, Stephen W. (Rachel), Daniel (Dionne), Timothy (Stefanie), and Thomas (Serina); grandchildren, Angelina, Emily, Abby, Sam, Ben, Nora and Matt; sisters, Nancy Hilpert and Janice Beckner; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Friends and Family may gather on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00PM at Sunset Chapel (6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070). A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Sunset’s Westwood Abbey Mausoleum. He will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum with full Military and Police Honors.
Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He left a legacy of love, service and faith. He is now at peace in his Heavenly home.
