Sylvia A. Landon's Obituary
Sylvia Alma Mary Messing Lackowski Landon died on February 18, 2018, at Ames Family House of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
She was born on June 21, 1932, in Minden City, Michigan, the third child of the late Frank and Bernetta (Booms) Messing. She married and divorced Clarence Lackowski and Ernest Landon.
She attended Shemka Elementary School in Parisville, Michigan, and Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School in Ruth, Michigan. Moving to Ohio in 1964, she furthered her education at Valley Forge High School and Cuyahoga Community College.
She worked in retail at The May Company, then data processing at Sherwin Williams, in Cleveland. She retired from Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, bookkeeper. Once retired she moved to Wellington, Ohio, then Olmsted Township to be nearer her family. Sylvia was a member of St. Mary of The Falls Catholic Church in Olmsted Falls, Ohio.
A homemaker, gardener, baker, seamstress, painter, crafter, Red Hat member, volunteer, business woman, and genealogist; Sylvia spent many hours helping others throughout her life.
She is survived by one son, Claude Lackowski, his wife, Debra and one grandson, Robert ‘Perry’ Lackowski; three brothers, Gordon (Julie), Norman (Eleanor), Daniel (Diane), and sister, Elizabeth (Norman) Outlaw. Four other siblings proceeded her in death, Mildred (Walter) Uhl, Arlene (Fred) Roggenbuck, Marcus (Bernice, also deceased), and infant sister, Alice Messing.
Friends may call on Saturday February 24, 2018 from 12PM until time of service at 2PM in the Sunset Chapel 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted, OH 44070.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Renaissance Retirement Campus (an Eliza Jennings community); Hospice of the Western Reserve; or St. Mary of the Falls Catholic Church; would be appreciated.
