Sylvia G Scanlon's Obituary
Sylvia G. Scanlon, 64, of Brunswick, OH passed away peacefully in Tarpon Springs, FL. She was born on April 24, 1950 to the late Wayne and Mildred (nee Reading) Hanby in Olean, NY. Sylvia was an Assistant Principal at Strongsville High School, for 26 years, but will be remembered most for her love of swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 44 years, John; her adoring children Colleen (Tom) Stawicki and Sean (Cheryl) Scanlon; her 2 cherished grandchildren Erin and Kyle; her 2 brothers James Hanby and Clark Hanby; and many extended family and friends. Friends may call on Friday, February 20, from 2-4PM and 6-9PM at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd. Brunswick, OH 44212. A service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11AM with a one hour visitation prior, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Red Cross, 780 East Smith Rd. Medina, OH 44256 or the Diabetes Association of Great Cleveland, 3601 S. Green Rd. Suite #100, Cleveland, OH 44122.
