Thomas Martin Lewins III, age 93, beloved husband for 63 years to the late Elizabeth (nee Graham), loving father of Constance A. McElvain (Ron), Thomas M. Lewins IV (Jane), and Charles Edward Lewins, cherished grandfather of Kimberley Aso (Ken), Jonathan McElvain (Rachel), Elizabeth, Caitlin, Thomas V, Emily, Micah (dec.), and Keegan Lewins, great-grandfather of Winston Aso, Isabella Amy, and Simon McElvain, proud veteran US Army WWII, entered into rest June 23, 2012.Mr. Lewins (Dad) was a member of the Little Rock Seventh-day Adventist church from 1947 until his death. During those years he served as a deacon, a Pathfinder Leader, a Sabbath School teacher, building committee chairman, and more than 30 years as an elder. He served on the board for Ozark Academy, a Seventh-day Adventist boarding high school, for 12 years. He and Betty mentored both the young and the old and opened their home to everyone.Mr. Lewins worked as an adjudicant for the Veterans’s Administration for 46 years.Martin had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as the “jokinggrandpa” by his grandchildren. He will be missed by every one who knew him.Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 8700 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock, AR 72205, or to the Thomas Lewins Endowment Fund c/o New Avenues to Independence, 17608 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 44112.
