Thomas Martin May's Obituary
Thomas Martin May, 73, of North Olmsted, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022. He was born on March 27, 1948 in Bedford, Ohio to the late Carl & Cleta May (nee Druso). Thomas will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Jane May; loving father of T.J. (Chrissy) May, Holly (Ryan) Picone, & Corey (Betsy) May; beloved grandfather of McKayla, Tommy, Cecilia, Leo, Cooper & Brooks; cherished brother of Dennis (Lynne) May and Rev. Dr. Neal (Jan) May; and a host of extended family and many dear friends.
He graduated from Aurora High School, where he played football, basketball, and track. From there he went on to Defiance college where he ran Track and received his degree to begin his sporting goods career. Tom worked for several companies throughout his life. He began his career at Koenig sporting goods before becoming a business owner himself. He owned Olympic Sporting goods for many years and eventually retired from Kesslers Team Sports. Tom was very active at St. Richard Parish. For years he ran the booster club and coached football, basketball and track. He also enjoyed creating family memories at the family cottage on Lake Pymatuning. He will be best remembered for his years of coaching, his good sense of humor, and being a great husband, dad, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 4-8p.m. at Sunset Funeral Services, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. A celebration of life funeral ceremony will be held also at Sunset Chapel on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 10a.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Heart Association.
