Tony Scafaro's Obituary
Tony Emmanuel Scafaro, age 90, was born and raised in Valley View, Ohio, to Grace and Carmen on March 11, 1931. Cherished husband of Joanne (Gembka-Gilles), treasured father of Anthony Scafaro (Richard Miller), Jerry Scafaro (deceased), Sandi (Dr. Bob) Graves, Barb (Mark) Stephenson, Susie (Dave) Ferek, and Jeff (Cindy) Scafaro; loving grandfather of Brett (Emma) Ferek, Sarah (Shawn) Wagner, Scott Stephenson (Jennifer Hoffmann), Kimberly (James) Mix, Matt Stephenson, and Carrie Hynds; beloved great-grandfather of Trevor, David, Nolan, Landon, Grace, and Olivia; dearest brother of Rose Dean, Carmella Yaquinto, Antoinette Pace Hirsch, Louise Nickschinski, Joseph (AKA Jerry) Scafaro, and Mary Thompson.
A true patriarch, Tony’s first priority was his family. Affectionately known as “Papa Tony,” he loved celebrating life with “Mama J” (his bride of 40 years) and his family and friends by his side. True to his Italian heritage, he was always adamant that there was more than enough food and, of course, plenty of wine! And in the summer, fresh garlic and vegetables from his garden blessed many a table and many a heart.
A self-made businessman with a work ethic that could not be beat, Tony took Western Enterprises in Westlake to new heights while serving as vice president of engineering, manufacturing, and government affairs.
Tony passed away peacefully at his home in Westlake, Ohio on June 10, 2021 with family by his side.
Friends will be received on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 2-4 PM at Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. A service will immediately follow at 4 PM at the chapel. He will be privately laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio.
