Vickie Lee Hankammer's Obituary
Vickie Lee Hankammer of Bristow, VA., died peacefully on her birthday, Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 70 years old.
Born on October 13, 1954, in Cleveland, OH, Vickie was a wanderer at heart. Throughout her 70 years she lived in four different states and was always ready to get on the motorcycle, or later in life hop in the car, to go explore some back country roads. Vickie was always ready for an adventure!
As those who knew her well can attest, Vickie was one of a kind. She was independent, strong, fiercely protective, and rarely followed the rules. She did things her own way, in her own time, and never apologized for it.
Vickie had a magnetic energy that easily attracted friends wherever she went. She deeply valued her relationships, blurring the lines between friendship and family, and placing family above all else. Her selfless nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met; she was always ready to offer a helping hand, or give the shirt off her back, to anyone in need. But her kindness was balanced by a strength of character - as those in her inner circle can attest, she wouldn't hesitate to deliver a dose of tough love when necessary! She was truly a gift to those that were lucky enough to be in her life.
Vickie is deeply mourned by her daughter Mackenzie Rottenborn and two rambunctious grandsons Theodore and Otto. Vickie joins her beloved husband, James Hankammer; her sister, Holly Holt; and her parents, Bill and Maxine McGrew, in eternity.
A celebration of life to honor Vickie will be held on Friday, 29 August 2025 at 11:00 AM. Please join us at Sunset Funeral Services at 6265 Columbia Road North Olmsted, OH in the Silver Chapel.
